Why are you doing this?

Why I'm glad you asked, blog page that I created. I guess the reason I'm starting this is because I posted a couple of recipes on Facebook and something kind of clicked. I love cooking, I love making people laugh, and my momma told me to, but only if I could refrain from using "foul language" (I said s**t once, and the ensuing scandal was almost too much for her to bear).

My cooking training started young. I was fortunate enough to grow up with three of the best cooks I've ever seen--my mother, my brother, and my grandmother. My momma and mammaw taught me the beauty and simplicity of good home cooking, while my brother taught me to be fearless in the kitchen. I guess another reason for me doing this is to help people who may not have much, or any, experience in the kitchen to realize that there's nothing to be afraid of. Cooking at home can be a joy. A day I spend in the kitchen is generally a very happy day for me, and I want to help others to feel the satisfaction that comes from taking simple ingredients and turning them into something divine.

So why "Til your heart feels good"? Well, to understand that, I have to tell you a little bit about my mom, at least a little more than her disdain for my choice of language. When I first moved out on my own, I would call her to ask how to make different meals. She always had advice and/or directions, but they were a tad vague, as in "Put some butter in there." When I would ask how much, she told me "Til your heart feels good." Her other favorite direction is to cook something "Til it's done." Did I mention my mom is kind of a smart aleck?

Anyway, that's all I have for now. I don't have a schedule for posting. I don't have a plan set for testing recipes, or themes for tips, or really any idea what I'm doing whatsoever. I'll post when I can, and I hope you enjoy it. Have fun reading!
